Delran Junior Marksman Club is a Junior Shooting Club.
The club is an educational organization whose main purpose is to instruct youth in firearm responsibility, safety familiarization and marksmanship. Our instructors are NRA certified and also club members. Junior membership is $50 a year and includes all equipment and materials for the junior shooter with the exception of ear and eye protection. We run three junior shooting programs through the year.
The first Saturday of May we move to our outdoor range off Taylor’s Lane and start the NRA .22 cal. small bore outdoor training course. The outdoor training course continues until the last Saturday in June from 9 a.m. thru 12 noon, the emphasis is firearm responsibility and safety.
The club has the equipment to fully outfit a team of six juniors for a small bore rifle competition match if the interest is generated.
If there are juniors who have an interest in high power rifle we will arrange training on an individual basis, with one on one instruction.
The Saturday after Labor Day the Delran Junior Marksman Club sponsors a JUNIOR AWARDS/NRA SHOOTING SPORTS CAMP/OPEN HOUSE from 11 a.m. thru 4:30 p.m. This event is open to the public. All ranges are open and operational. All firing is single shot, one on one, rigidly controlled NRA Certified Range Safety Officers.
During the month of October we have a shotgun training program for our juniors which is held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. thru 12 noon.
The Club sponsors several courses in Firearms Safety, which are offered to the general public.
These courses teach firearms responsibility, safety, familiarization, personal protection and marksmanship in rifle, shotgun, and pistol shooting. Courses normally have at least one evening of classroom instruction during the week and one Saturday morning hands on - individual instruction. Courses are held two, and sometimes three times a year depending on community interest. We try to keep the class size to about twenty for better instruction. Fee covers the cost of all materials.
We also assist with Hunter’s Safety Education courses, as required by state law. Many of our members instruct in these courses and firearms training at our range.
There is also an ongoing Instructors Certification Program to teach new instructors in various NRA DISCIPLINES
